Research Question

How should the public and legislatures address the rising cost of college attendance?

As you consider the question above, be sure to take into consideration, not only your own experience, but also the points and issues raised by the article "Five Truths about Tuition" from the New York Times.  While you likely won't be able to address all sides of the issue in one question, take those other viewpoints into consideration as you come up with your own research questions.

Research Help

In developing a research question, try to pick one which is broad enough to be easily researched yet not so broad as to be unmanageable. For example, if you were writing a research paper on Shakespeare's Hamlet, trying to write on the entire play would likely be very difficult for a three to five page paper. Conversely, writing on a single soliloquy or scene might not be a broad enough topic. You could, however, likely write a good paper by focusing on a single character (i.e. Hamlet) or theme (i.e. suicide).
