The Research Development Division within the Office of Research and Graduate Studies at Utah State University offers a suite of services and training to help you with successful grant proposals

The Research Development Division within the Office of Research and Graduate Studies was established in 2008 by the Vice President for Research to assist USU researchers in developing stronger and more competitive proposals for submission to sponsors

Research Development offers a suite of services, including management of the proposal development process, training, fostering collaboration, and services to help researchers advance their skills and success in obtaining funding.

The Library maintains this guide in consultation with the Research Development Division to facilitate awareness of their resources and access to materials that may assist you.

•  Contact your Proposal Development Specialist.
•  Start early.
•  Be aware of deadlines.
•  Determine if the amount awarded is worth the time you will have to invest in applying for it.

A number of Workshops & Seminars are offered each year through the Research Division.  

• Planning & Writing Successful Proposals: Starting Out (tailored to graduate students) - offered every Fall semester.
• Planning & Writing Successful Proposals  (tailored to faculty) - offered every Fall semester and is a prerequisite for application to the RGS Seed Funding Programs.
• Arts & Humanities Grant Writing Seminar  (tailored to arts & humanities faculty and graduate students) - offered every two years in Spring semester.
• Proposal Writing Institute  - annual, intensive training workshop offered each Spring.  Applications are available in December and those who are selected are notified in early March.

Most USU Colleges have a Proposal Development Specialist who can help you the grant process.
