Introduction

The Outdoor Recreation Archive includes photographs from pioneering industry figures, product designers, and notable recreationists. You can view any of these materials by visiting the Special Collections Reading Room. If you are unable to visit our Reading Room, many materials can be digitized for a fee. The fee schedule can be viewed here.

Robert E. Gillis photographs (inventory coming soon)

This collection contains images related to Robert (Bob) E. Gillis and his inventions, including the Oval Intention, the Grip Clip™ tarp and Grip Clip™ tent fasteners, dating from 1975 to 2010.

Arthur Marshall photographs (inventory coming soon)

Arthur Marshall was the first person to summit the highpoints of all 48 contiguous states in the United States, a task he completed after climbing Hoosier Hill, Indiana, in July 1936. This set of photo albums documents many of Marshall's climbing trips.
