Library Catalogs

Use a library catalog to find books by author, title, or subject. NOTE: Searching by SUBJECT requires an understanding of the Library of Congress Subject Headings.  It is often better to first search using KEYWORDS first and then narrow your search using the subject headings found in the catalog record of books that seem to be right on topic.  If you are an advanced searcher and want to explore the Library of Congress Subjet Headings a link will be listed below for Authorities & Vocabularies.

All books available for check out on Mormonism in the library are located on the second floor in the southwest corner.  The call numbers range from BX8601-8695.  The libraries Special Collections contain a vast number of books and resources on Mormonism.  In Special Collections the books are arranged by the Dewey system and would have a similar call number as 289.26 B644.

When searching the library catalog you will find books in three different locations: Merrill-Cazier Library, Special Collections, and BARN.  All three of the location are in the single library building, however each location is on different levels of the library.

When searching the catalog you will see the location listed as this:

This means the book is in the general books area on the second floor.  On the map below the book will be located in the A-H area.

 

 

Another location you will see is:

Book located in the BARN have to be requested.  In order to request a book you need to create a library account.  Once you have created an account, request the book and it will be available for pick up on the first floor Circulation Desk.

 

 

The third location is Special Collections:

This location is in the Lower Level of the library and has a different set of requirement for viewing and using materials.
