Creating Permalinks: Home

This guide walks you through creating permalinks (permanent links) to articles within EBSCOhost, JSTOR, ProQuest, and Science Direct.

EBSCOHost

  1. Open the document record to which you want to create a link.
    Article selected, Notice the tool bar to the right
  2. To the right of the record, you will see a column labeled "Tools".  Select the Permalink option.

  3. Copy the link that appears at the top of the record.

  4. Paste the link into the location where you want to link to the record.

JSTOR

  1. Open the document record to which you want to create a link.
    Article example, Higher Education
  2. Find the Stable URL or the Remote Access URL under the publication information. NOTE: The Stable URL is good for citations and the Remote Access URL is good for working off-campus. 
    Information Icon on the left towards the bottom to find both URL's
  3. Copy either link and paste it into the location where you want to link to the record.

Creating Permalinks in ProQuest

Common database from ProQuest include ProQuest Newsstand and Digital Dissertations.

  1. Open the document record to which you want to create a link.
    Example article: A higher goal during higher education: The power of purpose in life during university
  2. Click All Options on the right-hand side of the title. That will pull up a box with all save options. 
    Tools listed from left to right: Download PDF, Cite, Email, Print, All options. Select All Options
  3. Click on the link at the top of the All save and export options box. That will copy the permalink.

  4. Paste the link Copy and paste it into the location where you want to link to the record.

Science Direct

  1. Click on the title of the article to which you'd like to link.
    Article example: The quality of higher education and overeducation: Where shoiuld Higher Education funding go?
  2. Locate the DOI underneath the publication information.
    Listed underneath save and cite buttons
  3. To copy the DOI URL, right-click on the link and choose Copy Link Location. 
    5th option down, copy link address
  4. Paste the link into the location where you want to link to the record.
