Citing Your Sources

APA Style

According to APA style guidelines, you need as much of the following information as you can find about your sources:

  • Author and/or editor name(s)
  • Title of the source (e.g., website, book, article)
  • Title of the larger work (e.g., journal, encyclopedia, magazine, book series)
  • Date of publication
  • Publication information (volume, issue, and page range for articles; publisher name and location for books)
  • Date you accessed the source (if electronic)
  • Web address or DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

Synthesis

Synthesis requires you to make sense of all the relevant ideas in your sources and blend them together with your own thoughts and ideas.
