Due to the coronavirus pandemic, HathiTrust is provided scanned copies of books owned by libraries for checkout through their new Emergency Temporary Access Service. 44% of USU Libraries' books are available through this service! You can now check out copies from our normal print collection through HathiTrust.
The first step to accessing the library print collection online is to go to HathiTrust. Once you are on the HathiTrust website you need to let them know you are associated with Utah State University by clicking the "LOG IN" button at the top right of your screen.
After you log in, search for Utah State University and click continue.
This will lead you to your Utah State University single sign on page. Sign in with your credentials. After you have signed in, Utah State University books will show up in your search results. You can tell the item you search for is a digital copy of a print book because it will say "Temporary Access" next to it. Books with the notice "Full View" are normally available through HathiTrust and available without a check out.
Once you find a book that you want, you'll need to check it out. To observe copyright regulations, these digital copies still need to be checked out, and the number of available checkouts reflects the number of physical copies available in the library. To check out a book click "Temporary Access" next to the book you want to read.
On the following page click "Check Out" to check out the book.
You'll be able to read the book in your browser, but you will not be able to download any books that are part of this temporary service. If you need a downloaded copy for a screen reader or other device, please contact a librarian for assistance.
