Sliding Into History: The Legacy of USU Women's Softball Champions 1980 – 1981: Athletic Department Budgets

Created as a product of student research in association with the History Department to explore the history, impact, and legacy of the women's softball program and Title IX at Utah State University.

Here are the budget samples starting in the year 1975 and running until the year 1981. In this data sample, we can see the comparison of the pay scale for the male and female athletic directors. Marylin Weiss was the female athletic director and was a major supporter of equal rights between men and women in athletics, she was truly a pioneer for Utah State in getting the funding that women’s athletics deserved. She left USU following the 81 championship and went to Florida. Her legacy was forever remembered because she was very influential and involved in all women’s sports, even coaching some of them during her time here at Utah State.
