PSY 6530: Developmental Psychology: APA & Citation Managers

[PSY|6530]

Citing Your Sources

APA Style

According to APA style guidelines, you need as much of the following information as you can find about your sources:

  • Author and/or editor name(s)
  • Title of the source (e.g., website, book, article)
  • Title of the larger work (e.g., journal, encyclopedia, magazine, book series)
  • Date of publication
  • Publication information (volume, issue, and page range for articles; publisher name and location for books)
  • Date you accessed the source (if electronic)
  • Web address or DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

Tip:

What's a DOI?

Many citation styles now require that a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) be included in your citation, if available. To see if a journal article has been assigned a DOI, you can look it up on CrossRef or Ask a Librarian.

Organizing Your Sources

Citation Organizers
