One of the most powerful advantages of Open Educational Resources (OER) is the freedom they give you to customize learning materials to fit the unique needs of you and your students. By developing your own OER, you gain full control over both the content and the delivery of your course materials.
Instead of adapting your teaching to fit a pre-existing textbook, creating OER allows you to design materials that align precisely with your course objectives, learning outcomes, and teaching style. You decide what topics to include, what examples to highlight, and how to present the content in a way that best supports your students' success.
Pressbooks is an easy-to-use online platform for creating and publishing open textbooks and other educational materials. It allows users to author, adapt, and share content in a variety of formats, including web, PDF, and ePub. Through the Utah Education Network (UEN), USU faculty and instructors can create OER using Pressbooks via an institutional login—no personal account is required.
