Finding Books, Journals, Media, and More: Placing a Hold and Requesting Materials

This guide will walk you through how to find books, media and more from USU Libraries.

Placing a Hold and Requesting Materials

If you aren't located in Logan and want to request a book or other physical item from a different USU library, place a hold!

On the item's detail page, click the "Place hold" button.

Then from the drop-down menu, choose where you'd like the pick-up location to be. If you need to leave additional information to library staff, type those into the Notes field before clicking the "Place Hold" button.

There are a few ways to request materials through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). If you do not have an ILLiad account (our interlibrary loan service), you can create one by logging into ILLiad with your A# and password and adding your contact information and preferences to your account.

1. If You Have a Citation

Go to the Request Materials (Interlibrary Loan) page (link located under Services). Then log in using your A# and password.

USU library homepage: Services are found in the middle right section of the page. Request materials is the 3 link.

If you have the item's citation information (name, author, etc), click "Make a Request" in the upper right corner.

See above info

Select the type of material you would like to request such as "Book."

Drop down menu from make a request.

You'll then be asked to fill out the information about the item such as title, author, publication year, etc. Finally click submit request at the bottom of the page.

You'll then need to login to your ILLiad account with your A# and password, and voila! The request will for the article will be filled out for you. Make sure you click "Submit Request" at the bottom of the form.
