Faculty: Creating Links to Library Resources: Making Links Off-campus Friendly

Creating Links for Off-Campus Access

When linking to library subscription resources (articles, databases, e-books, etc.) within Canvas or elsewhere, you need to add a short URL-like string, or "prepend" to the beginning of all links to library subscription resources, which then prompts for an A number and password. The prepend is:

https://login.dist.lib.usu.edu/login?url=

For example:

The link to the IBIS World database is:

http://www.ibisworld.com

which becomes:

https://login.dist.lib.usu.edu/login?url=http://www.ibisworld.com

Then, anyone off-campus trying to access IBIS World will either be passed directly to the database, if they have logged into Canvas or anywhere else on the USU systems, or be asked for their A number and Banner password.
