USU Libraries has secured discounts with publishers as part of membership agreements to reduce the costs of open access publishing. These deals provide USU authors with discounts on Article Processing Charges (APCs). Through these discounts, USU researchers can make their work freely accessible to a worldwide audience, increasing the spread of knowledge and supporting the goals of the University.
Corresponding authors affiliated with USU receive a 15% discount on APCs in IEEE journals. IEEE will first send the invoice to USU Libraries. The Library will need to decline to pay in order to trigger the discount; then the invoice will be rerouted to the author with a 15% discount applied.
Authors affiliated with USU receive a 25% discount on the article processing charge for publishing in any Royal Society journal. Authors who select an Open Access option at the time of submission will be directed to a list of member institutions to identify their affiliation.

About Lithosphere
Lithosphere was established by the Geological Society of America in 2009 and is now published Open Access by GeoScienceWorld, in partnership with five geoscience societies. The journal provides a community-centered home for basic, applied, and cross-disciplinary research on the processes that affect the crust, upper mantle, landscapes, and/or sedimentary systems at all spatial and temporal scales.
Authors appreciate the supportive peer review process from a global editorial board of experts, faster-than-average time to publish, copyright retention, no limits on page or reference count, and wide readership facilitated through extensive abstracting and indexing.
How it Works
Member institutions of GWLA are entitled to a 20% APC discount on Lithosphere for all affiliated researchers. To receive the discount, the researcher must be the Corresponding Author on the accepted paper. The discount offer is not a guarantee of acceptance; publishing decisions are made entirely by the independent editorial board. The discount is available to all researchers affiliated with your campus. The discount code can be entered during the checkout process when the manuscript is submitted and must be entered prior to the manuscript final decision. The discount cannot be combined with any other APC discounts the author may be eligible for.
