Using Room 154 in Merrill-Cazier Library: Microphones

This guide provides training and information on how to use the equipment in room 154 of the Merrill-Cazier Library.

Using the Microphones

There are three types of microphones in this room. Follow the steps below to set up and use each one. 

Handheld Microphone:

The handheld microphone is found at the desk in it's charging station.

To use:

  1. Pull it straight up out of the charging dock.
  2. To turn it on, slide the button on the front up.
  3. To turn it off, slide the button on the front down.

Please note: This microphone has only one set volumeIt cannot be changed.

Lapel (or Lavalier) Microphone:

This microphone is found at the desk in it's charging station.

To use:

  1. Pull it straight out of the charging dock and unwrap the cord.
  2. Clip the lapel mic somewhere on your person near your mouth.
    • For example, the lapel or front pocket of your shirt 
  3. To turn on, flip the switch on the top of the box portion of the mic.

Hanging Microphones:

These are found in the ceiling of the room and are typically already on. 

To use:

  1. Go to Teach Connect mode on the Crestron touch screen.
  2. There are two microphone buttons, one says All and one says Student Mics.
    • If these are off, the icons will be red.
  3. To turn either of these on or off, just press the buttons.
    • This may come in handy to mute louder classes when you are using Zoom. 

Please note: The ceiling microphones does not amplify your voice. It is only for when using Zoom.
